I believe that reading aloud to students is an important daily practice and that they should be exposed to a wide variety of text. When reading, I pause and make observations or ask questions to help children make connections to the text. Difficult vocabulary is explained through a P.A.T technique where I point to the word, act out the word, and tell the students a child-friendly definition. Asking questions about the text after the reading is also important as it can help students to think deeper about what we have read.
